Can anyone tell me if they have stained intact (non-permeabilized) mammalian cells with Probes SYBR-I or SYBR-II? A PubMed comes back with several papers using SYBR-14, whatever that may be, and sperm viability. There is also a small chain of papers ( <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:80/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&li st_uids=11571170>Gregori G, Citterio S, Ghiani A, Labra M, Sgorbati S, Brown S, Denis M. "Resolution of viable and membrane-compromised bacteria in freshwater and marine waters based on analytical flow cytometry and nucleic acid double staining." Appl Environ Microbiol. 2001 Oct;67(10):4662-70. which led to <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:80/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&li st_uids=9572943>Lebaron P, Parthuisot N, Catala P. "Comparison of blue nucleic acid dyes for flow cytometric enumeration of bacteria in aquatic systems." Appl Environ Microbiol. 1998 May;64(5):1725-30. PMID: 9572943). I am interested in if anyone has used the SYBR dyes for DNA or RNA staining in membrane-intact, diploid, mammalian cells, since they are purportedly membrane permeant. Thanks in advance. -cbReceived on Tue Mar 16 13:18:00 2004
