rbc lysis vs retics

Does anyone know if you can lyse human red blood cells while leaving retics
intact?

" All samples were run in the resistant RBC mode to obtain complete
erythrocyte lysis. "

The above sentence in the article found at the following link,

seems to hint at this but I wasn't sure.  If it can be done, can someone
tell us what procedure to use?	The only human rbc lysis reagent I'm
familiar with is buffered ammonium chloride (haven't done it in awhile, but
I think that's what we used to use).  Thanks for any information and
suggestions.
