RA (II) flow cytometry specialist position at SF Bay Area biotech startup company

A principal operator (Research Associate II) is sought immediately for
KineMed's flow cytometry facility. The successful candidate, reporting
to the Director of Immunology Research, will have primary responsibility
for day-to-day operation of the flow cytometry facility, which currently
consists of one 4-color/1-laser Coulter Epics XL flow cytometer and one
> 4-color/3-laser Coulter Epics Elite cell sorter. S/he also will
provide user training for the flow cytometer; perform routine
maintenance, prepare solutions and maintain a stock of reagents and
supplies; and work with users and supervisor to monitor performance of
existing staining protocols and develop new ones. Salary depending on
experience. KineMed, Inc. (http://www.kinemed.com), a rapidly expanding
small biotechnology company, develops novel biomarkers for advanced
diagnostics and pharmaceutical R&D based on proprietary stable isotope
labeling technology. 

Requirements: 
The successful candidate will have at least a B.S. degree in biology,
biophysics, or other relevant discipline, at least 2 years of general
laboratory experience, and at least 6 months of experience operating a
cell sorter. Experience with Coulter Epics instruments is not required
but would be an advantage. Expertise with staining and sorting protocols
for primary lymphoid and nonlymphoid cells from human or rodent blood,
secondary lymphoid organs, and dissociated solid tissues would be
advantageous, as would experience with analysis of intracellular
antigens and DNA content.
