I am wondering if anyone can help me diagnose a problem I am having with my FACScan (manufactured in 1988 and donated to my institution). I am at a small liberal arts college and am trying to do as much troubleshooting on my own since money is tight. The machine started out working normally except that the laser wasn't turning on and no power was getting to the laser (according to the CellQuest status window). Since then things have progressed such that now essentially the only thing that runs when I turn it on is the fan (no lights on the front display, no DCM pump, no laser). In addition the associated computer does not offer the option of connecting to the cytometer through the CellQuest software. I am assuming there is a power supply problem but would appreciate any more specific information/assistance that anyone can offer (including any repair options). Thank you. _____________________________ Jodi Goldberg, Ph.D. Biology Department Hamline University phone: (651) 523-2330 fax: (651) 523-2620 email: jgoldberg01@hamline.eduReceived on Fri Jan 16 13:58:00 2004
