I am interested in clinical comments about flow cytometry lymph node results from a 36
year old male with a mediastinal lymphadenopathy.
The lymphoid cells from a mediastinal node were 80% CD3, 47% CD4, 87% CD5 and 29% CD8
positive with 61% co-expression of CD3 and CD79b and 71% co-expression of CD5 and CD79b.
There was 15% CD19, 15% CD20, 9% Kappa and 4% Lambda with 4% co-expression of CD5 and
CD19 and 14% CD19+/CD20+/CD79b+ cells.
Has anyone else seen examples of co-expression of CD3, CD5 and CD79b?
Unfortunately we had insufficient sample to send for T cell gene rearrangement studies.
Could this possibly be a T cell malignancy with aberrant expression of CD79b?
Looking forward to receiving comments on this case.
