There are still a few spots available for the 2003 Cytometry Development Workshop, which will take place October 15-18 at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California. Asilomar is an extraordinarily beautiful setting, and the Conference features an informal agenda that provides plenty of free time to pursue science, golf, nature study, or the beach. The workshop is held with the endorsement of the International Society for Analytical Cytology (ISAC) and is the leading forum for focused discussion of cytometric technology, both flow and image based. Bob Murphy (murphy@andrew.cmu.edu) and I will again be serving as organizers and moderators. This is *not* a meeting for novices; it is a small gathering that allows free exchange of information among people in academic, government, and industrial labs who are actively involved in pushing the state of the art. The Workshop attendees set the agenda by the topics that they choose to present (everybody who attends must make a presentation on at least one topic; see the web site), and we run at the pleasant slow pace of the Automated Cytology Conferences of the 1970's, which preceded and catalyzed the formation of what is now ISAC. Further details and a registration form are available from the web site at http://murphylab.web.cmu.edu/CDW/. If you are interested in attending, please register (both with the Conference Center and with the organizers) as soon as possible. If you have further questions, Bob and/or I will be happy to attempt to answer them. -Howard
