You weren't wrong at all.  It is unethical to use someone's name as an author without
his/her permission.  I would ask the person to take your name off (you could also write
to the journal and ask to have your name removed).   Of course,  this won't work if the
paper has already been published.

One of the really serious reasons that you shouldn't allow this to occur is that you
could find your name on a paper that turned out to be wrong or silly (or even
fraudulent).  

BTW,  this has happened to me and I did demand that my name be taken off.  People did
think I was ungrateful.......
