Dear friends, I work in an HIV monitoring laboratory and we are using the EPICS XL (Beckman Coulter). We have been experiencing some problems with a few samples that would not lyse using the Optilyse C solution. On doing a Haemoglobin electrophoresis these samples are usually Hb SS, SC, CC. I tried to increase the concentration of Optilyse but it did not work. I also tried adding Optilyse C / deionized water and analysing immediately but still had a " data rate warning" on the machine which is usually the case when the sample is not lysed or has too much debris. Has anyone experienced this problem. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you... Namrata
