On-axis events on FACSDiva

Hi all,
We are seeing a lot of on-axis events on our FACSDiva. We
have been led to believe that this is 'normal' and due, at least in
part, to measuring area rather than height. We are wondering a couple
of things...

i) does anyone have a good (simple?) explanation of why it occurs -
some of the users here are getting very disconcerted by it and would
like to understand what is going on.

ii) what is reasonable level of on-axis events? In some cases were
are seeing more than 50% of the events piled up on the axis and
fiddling with the PMTs doesn't seem to make much difference...

Thanks,

Adrian Smith
