Here is an update on the Dartmouth Clinical Flow Course:
Date: 27 July -- 1 August, 2003
Place: Dartmouth Medical School / Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, New
Hampshire, USA
Directors: Paul Wallace and Alice Givan
Audience: The Course is directed at individuals with some experience with flow cytometry.
Numbers limited to about 50.
Purpose: There will be 7 modules for hands-on laboratory and computer work.  Lectures
will cover a variety of general and advanced topics and there will be many opportunities
for informal discussion.  Emphasis of the Course will be divided between basic flow
theory, current practice in the clinical laboratory, and frontiers for the future.
Subjects will include: leukemia/lymphoma phenotyping, platelet analysis, DNA analysis
for cell cycle stage and ploidy, quality control and standardization, reference
and alernative methods for CD4 counting, CD34 stem cell quantification, granulocyte
function, selection of fluorochromes, tetramer analysis, use of tracking dyes to follow
cell proliferation, and analysis of specimens for microbiology.
Faculty will include: Kenneth Ault,, Bruce Bagwell, Nadège Bercovici, Alice Givan,
Marc Golightly, James Jett, John Martin, Katharine Muirhead, Abraham Schwartz, Howard
Shapiro, Carleton Stewart, Robert Vogt, Alan Waggoner, Paul Wallace.
Fee: $1,200 (increasing to $1,300 after April 1st) to include all course material,
refreshment breaks, 6 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 dinners (including a reception
dinner and a lobster bake).
Accomodation: Single dormitory rooms (shared toilets and baths) are available at $44
per night. Hotels and motels are also available in the Lebanon area.
