We had a similar problem.  If MS Word and Paint-a-Gate were run on the same
computer, it would disable Paint-a-Gate.  Our computer guy said that it was
due to the Microsoft extensions that were interfering with Paint-a-Gate.
Once he disabled those extensions, both MS Word and Paint-a-Gate worked
fine.
