YES!!!!!!
One copy goes to the lab group for their offline analysis and
another copy is stored in a safe, non-accessible place.

When (not if...) somebody ruins or loses the lab copy of the CD
the data is not lost, and we can make them a new copy.

We even had a student who was leaving the country try to take the
lab copies with him....

The loss of data could be much more costly than the extra copies.
