Several of the users in our facility have substituted Alexa 594 for Texas Red as a dye laser excited dye. In our laser/filter configuration (see below) we generally see somewhat brighter staining with the Alexa dye. The background is reduced as well, mainly becasue of less no-specific binding. It is used in conjunction with APC and several other dye laser excited dyes, as well as several 488 nm excited dyes. We are generally pleased with the results. -Marty Bigos Stanford Shared FACS Facility Dye laser setup - laser run at 595 nm. TR collection filter is an HQ625/40 from Chroma Optical. There is cross-laser compensation required with PE and Cy5PE.
