Raymond, I don't have much experience with measuring bacteria, but nevertheless I have done so with our Vantage, and with the ND filter in place you should still get a signal that is off the noise theshold. Of course, if you remove it, you get much stronger signals. But for those small particles, SSC may be the better choice anyhow. For some histograms of North Sea bacteria, stained with some Molecular probes´ green DNA stains and measured on a FacsVantage, try this web site: http://www.uni-kiel.de:8080/ftzwest/ag1/projekte/probes.html marcus __________________________________________________ Dr. Marcus Reckermann Research- and Technology Centre Westcoast (FTZ) Hafentoern D-25761 Buesum Germany Tel: +49-4834-604-204 or -261 Fax: +49-4834-604-299 E-Mail: recker@ftz-west.uni-kiel.de http://www.uni-kiel.de:8080/ftzwest/
