Pasteur Institute Paris Department of Immunology Flow Cytometry Service Responsable de Service The Department of Immunology in the Pasteur Institute in Paris has a position avaliable for the head of the departmental flowcytometry service. The service is equipped with two FACScans (Mac), one FACScalibur 4 Color, 1 FACStar Plus sorter, and the purchase of another highspeed sorter is planned for 1999. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent technical skills and a solid "hands-On" experience in flow cytometry and cell sorting. Sorting experience on a research cytometer (FACStar plus or equivalent) is required. Additional skills in computer maintenance (mainly MacIntosh Network) and installation would be advantageous. A solid knowledge of English is essential and a working knowledge of French would be highly beneficial. The qualified candidate will fill the position of the service coordinator and be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the laboratory which include: Supervision of core staff (2 research technicians) and about 60 regular users, cell-sorting, assisting users with data acqusition (users run samples in self service), data analysis, data management and backup, instrument maintenance and project trouble shooting, scheduling, training, and equipment preventative maintenance. Core facility and supervisory experience is a plus. The position will be initially on a one year basis (starting as soon as possible), with the possibility to later obtain a permanent position in the Pasteur Institute.
