Hi folks,

First let me thank all you kind folks who returned my request
for a little HELP from my FRIENDS, I do appreciate it.
My personal opinion; which of courses may not count for much,
of why B-D dropped the FACSMate is that had a few problems with its
predecessor the infamous AUTOMate and the really failed to market this little
gem the FACSMate properly. Back-ground info. I was weaned on an EPICS
752 a good instrument when it behaved and a real bear when it did not. Any-
who I was sent to B-DŐs school to learn the FACScan and then the AUTOMate.
The primary reason for purchasing the FACScan over CoulterŐs equivalent was,
you guessed it the AUTOMate. The educators there, hardly demonstrated the
AUTOMate, and then with little enthusiasm, maybe the already knew whats up.
When I returned several years later to educate myself with the FACStar plus I
had to teach that portion of the class to both students and instructors. Did
you
know that, that little trouble-free gem the FACSMate can be hooked-up to the
FACStar? Of course at this time B-D was already gearing-up for the Carousel
and dumping the FACSMate. Again my opinion, if any anything they should
have backed both. It seems silly to me in an age of robotics why not modify
the instrument to do multiple plates. The technology is certainly out there.
On other matters concerning B-D o questions asked, Both our field
and phone techs are the greatest, maybe we are just luck in our area. They
are B-DŐs front line ambassadors along with their sale staff. I think it would
be prudent of B-D to keep them as competent as ours internationally.
Other info: I purchased the QVS Switch Box [AB Switch CA-295-2]
from Friendship computer. Their catalog number is CA-8295-2, the price
was $49.00 for GŐvt contract. The 50 pin cable CC390 price $24.95
Friendships phone 301-770-2925 . Address 12315 Wilkins Ave.
Rockville, Maryland, USA 20852 I am fairly certain you can get all
that is needed at any reliable computer supply house. I realize it is silly
to remind you that you should turn al your systems off before hooking the

appropriate cables.

						Cordially Yours
						      Howard
