There are "simple" questions and "simple" questions; that is to say, some have simple answers and some have complicated ones. For my part, I tend to trust other participants to answer the questions with simple answers, and put my two cents in when the answers are more complex or when it is unclear that answers exist. There are also more and less legitimate simple questions, in the sense that a few people seem to be lazy enough to ask questions which they wouldn't have to ask if they read one of several books, none of which costs more that a few tenths of a per cent of what their organizations have paid for a flow cytometer. While there may be some sense in posting FAQs and answers, I think that the Mailing List is better restricted to things at least a little beyond the obvious. It's nice that "flowers" seem similar to the flower children of generations past in that we are generally polite enough to tell even the lazier questioners where to look things up rather than simply flaming them. -Howard
