Alice, I believe that most meritorious questions, however simple, are responded to with the same sincerity that they're offered. Speaking for myself, I typically gage the level of global applicability of a response, and send responses accordingly. Therefore, If someone asks a very basic question, I will usually reply only to them. If, however, there is a more broadly useful aspect (at least in my opinion) to the necessary response, I will send it to everyone. I hope that others use this kind of selective approach as well. MAK.
