reversible and tracks (at least in most cells) the DNA damage as measured by the 
TUNEL assay.  And all of us in this field, I think, will agree that this is the 
ultimate terminal measurement.  However, because Apoptosis is a kinetic event 
and because some cells progress more rapidly than others it would be a mistake 
to only rely upon one measurement of Apoptosis.  Of course if you have the 
opportunity this process should be followed over time.

Does the increase in Annexin V binding (epithelial cells) commit the cell to
apoptosis?
