Sorry folks, in my previous posting I attached a WPWIN file about this
topic, and it was apparently garbled up by the internet transmittal
process. So here it is retyped:

Several Estrogen Receptors (ER) probes were found in the open
literature and their potential in studying endocrine disruptors were
evaluated.

a. 17-beta estradiol-6 carboxymethyloxime - bovine serum albumin
-FITC conjugate

For tagging membrane binding sites

Pappas TC, Gametchu B, Watson CS, 1995 Membrane estrogen
receptors identified by multiple antibody labeling and impeded ligand
binding. FASEB J 1995 March. 9(5) 404-10

and

Brubaker KD, Gay CV 1994, Specific binding of estrogen to osteoclast
surfaces. Erratum in Biochem Biophys Res.Comm 1994 Jul 15; 202(1)
643, Main paper in ibid 1994 apr 29; 300(2):899-907

b. 7-alpha-pentyl, 17-betaestradiol-BODIPY conjugate a probe of high
quantum yield, potential for flow cytometry

French AN, Wilson SR, Welch MJ, Katzenellenbogen JA; 1993
Synthesis of 7-alpha-substituted estradiols: synthesis and biological
evaluation of 7-alpha-pentyl substituted BODIPY fluorescent conjugate
and a fluorine-18-labeled 7-alpha-pentyl estradiol analog.
Steroids 1993 Apr ; 58(4) 157-69

c. 7',6-dihydroxycoumarino (3',4',3,2) coumarone or COUMESTROL

Miksicek RJ; 1993, In situ localization of the estrogen receptor in living
cells with the phytoestogen COUMESTROL
J.Histochem-Cytochem 1993 Jun 41(6): 801-10

d. Tetrahydrochrysene complex with rigidified hydroxynitrostilbene
fluorophore for cytosolic ER compartment mapping.

Anstead GM, Hwang KJ,  Katzenellenbogen JA 1993;

tetrahydrocgrysene system containing a rigidified hydroxynitrostilbene
chromophore; An inherently fluorescent ligand designed for the estrogen
receptor,
