Gerard Engelen-Eigles asks whether anyone has run Mithramycin stained cells on an Epics XL. Probably not successfully; mithramycin absorbs very poorly at 488 nm, which is the only excitation wavelength available on the XL. In instruments with larger argon lasers, 457 nm is generally used; 441 nm from He-Cd lasers and 436 nm from arc lamps work as well or better. -Howard
