Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Sultanate of Oman currently has two vacancies for senior MLSO's/technologists within the Department of Haematology. Both posts require a AIBMS (UK) or equivalent and a minimum of five years post qualification experience. 1) Haematology/Immunophenotyping. In depth knowledge of automated haematology systems (STKS) desirable, good blood morphology skills a must to handle the high percentage of abnormal patients which pass through this referral hospital. Previous flow experience mandatory, type of instrumentation not a factor. Instruction (by me!) will be given in current Flow cytometers. 2) Blood Transfusion A busy blood bank which collects it's own donations and processes for PRP, Cryo, FFP etc. 2 Haemonetics pheresis machines are in frequent use both for component collection and therepeutic use. In addition to general grouping and X matching our laboratory also deals with approx. 150 beta thalassaemia transfusions per month. The Diamed ID system is in current use. Previous long term experience in blood bank a must. Can't give more details - not my lab ! Anyone interested contact me at 102675.320@compuserve.com for more info. Wal Sharp SQU Oman.
