Many thanks to those who responded to the first question. Now, how about the following: 1. What if we remove the constraint of excitation at 488 or UV (we will soon be getting another laser). Now we are looking for a DNA stain (for cell cycle) which can be used on viable cells (to be sorted and recultured) which can be excited at any wavelength but which does not emit in green or blue. 2. Has anyone used Molecular Probes SYTO 17 (the red one). If so, what laser was used to excite the dye? What wavelength? 3. What have been your experiences using Molecular Probes SYTO stains in general. 4. Has anyone sorted cells (for reculture) with cell cycle as one of the parameters using any of the SYTO dyes (regardless of wavelength). If there is interest, I will be happy to post a summary of the results of these queries.
