We charge pretty much the same thing: $45/h FACScan; $70/h FACStar. A surcharge of $70 if the uv laser is used. The latter helps to offset plasma tube replacement when the time comes. Some interesting market phenoma occur with price. We found that by lowering the price use went up. I interpret this as an unsatisfied user need that was price sensitive. At this lower price there was enough new use that we were able to add another analyzer and bring in more income. We're thinking about adding yet again another. We've found that the cost of maintaining several instruments is not much more than maintaining one. Of course, we have no service contracts.
