RE: FACScan side scatter "blips" We also see the "blips" in SSC. Our DB service engineer and us came to a conclusion that they are caused by microbubbles (we agree with Judy). They are NOT caused by electrical surges (we have a good voltage regulator in line). We do not deal with them during acquisition (keep acquiring the sample) but we "cut"/gate them out in our analysis (make a plot of SSC vs TIME (Winlist)). That way you do not have to abort long acquisition and lose the sample. Vera
