Hi- I have read the messages regarding this problem with interest because I have NOT seen it here with the Facscan we have had for 4+ years. It would seem improbable that power line problems at different institutions would affect just the SSC. I would suspect that the problem is more fundamental. We do not use a BD computer system for data collection or instrument control. Having built our own system it is relevant to note that we found the computer interface on our Facscan to have a very shaky design. When updating some instrument parameters, other ones change without reason, so our control routines have to be very carefully done. Since data and instrument control are handled through the same interface, that would be a place to focus on. In particular, it would be relevant to see if certain configurations and data rates cause this problem, while others do not. -Marty Bigos Stanford Shared FACS Facility
