REGARDING RE>Reordering INITS on a Mac >1) Every time I use Apple File Exchange, the system crashes (screen goes blank) >upon exit. The file is lost unless it is used by some application before >quitting AFE. It did this before and after the latest (4/94) System 7.1 patch. >It works without Extension loaded. Should I try to change the *order* of INITS? >And HOW do I do this? The order probably won't make any difference, you just need to determine which init is causing the conflict. If you have a lot of inits, this can take some time! If you have only the minimum supplied by BD with the system, you may have to upgrade to a new AFE equivalent. If I remember right, AFE is used to read PC disks, and it has an interface like the Font/DA mover from System 6 so it is real clunky. You should just buy PC Exchange to replace AFE. It is an invisible interface, it just mounts PC disks as if they were Mac-formatted. >2) Is there a way to make my own Apple Menu Sub-menus like one can with System >7.5 (Quick keys does it automatically)? Making a folder inside the Apple Menu >folder doesn't do it There is a shareware init called "BeHeirarchic" in the InfoMac archives that will do this. Jerry Spangrude
