I agree with Thomas Delohery. Drug induced cell cycle blocks are very informative especially with regard to proteins in G2/M phase (normally a very low population) when done properly. In our lab we use a double thymidine block synchrony, and our cells (this technique is mostly used on HeLa cells) block and release very well. We also have used both Hoechst33342 and aphidocholin on occasion on a variety of different cells with success (ie fairly synchronous release) gaining valuable data on the cell cycle. Anybody not having success with drug blocks needs to try different concentrations of drugs, and different times of incubation. Joanne Clark
