This bruhaha about commercialism is strange. As a relative newcomer to high tech instrumental cytometry (buying, use-optimizing flow, confocal, etc), often I felt like a babe in the woods, wishing I had access to a rapid response forum where technical issues about commercial products could have been clarified, debunked/reinforced . Agreed, this net is not appropriate for disseminating overt sales pitch and marketing promotions. Yet I cannot help but feel that a. most corporations are genuinely truthful about their products and eager to help, and b. when they are not, there is no better way to debunk false claims than to let everyone peruse it. So let us define what sales blurb is (e.g. unsolicited promotionals) and ban it, but let valuable technical information flow unimpeded. (Sorry I forgot to sign my previus posting this same message.)
