This is a ridiculous statement!! I can't believe it came
out of an intelligent person. Most of us do not have money
to upgrade to a new fancy system. We are trying to give our
researchers or clients the best answers we can to flow
problems with what we have available. How do you figure
that this gives an advantage to your competitors? We are
your clients and we are the ones who would get the advantage
          - and we would pay for it too!! I am fortunate to have both
types of instruments in my 2 facilities so that I can take
advantage of strong points in both manufacturers, however,
many of us are stuck with instruments that have been in our
facilities before we arrived. I can't believe that there is
so little concern for the standardization of the "art" of
flow cytometry and so much concern for the almighty buck
that BD would react this way. In my opinion, BD had just
fallen light years from grace!! And I concur that there
will be conversion programs, probably within days which will
allow those of us to would desire to - the use of the
programs you try to prevent Coulter users from using. Or
better yet, why not write a better, more versital version
yourselves, Phoenix or Verity - I think a lot of us would
support it before we would purchase BD's version!! This
          attitude makes me mad.
