Andrew, thanks for the effort to draft me to answer vague questions. My intentions were not to defend the sender but to merely point out that a civil reply stating "More information please" was more in keeping than the answer the poor soul got. The fact that we haven't seen a subsequent post from the original sender suggests they were scared away and may not return. Flow ignorance in many cases is the fault of the principal investigator/mentor and not the poor graduate students/post docs trying to learn things on the fly. Should they therefore be treated harshly for their ignorance? Is that really the way to encourage more people to use flow? And what I meant by 9-11 was that in the world after the WTC attacks I think we should strive to be more tolerant, more civil and less nasty. 9-11 has nothing directly to do at all with this thread, it was simply my plea to the rest to strike a more civil tone. I will say that I appreciate the references to Tufte's books - those I was not aware of and I always appreciate learning new approaches to the presentation of data in a way to make it more meaningful to my audience.
