Hello,

I am just returning to my office after some travel and picked this one-week old
question.
During a recent meeting I heard about a new product from a joint venture between
QiaGen and BD.
This product is named PAXgene Blood RNA System manufactured by PreAnalytix . It
is described as a special collection tube.
The manufacturer claims that the blood samples can be stored for up to 5 days at
room temperature.

I have never used this product. Just my two cents.

Objet : whole blood preservative for future sorting & mRNA detection

Hello,

A collaborator came to me to find out information about the right
preservative for whole blood. They are thinking to simply add the
preservative to whole blood and ship this sample to the central processing
place for lymphocyte staining, sorting and subsequent determination of
cytokine mRNA levels from different subsets. The ideal preservative will
stop the physiology right away and prevent the mRNA degradation.
Hopefully, by using this preservative, they will be able to minimize the
ex-vivo manipulation and the quantitation of mRNA will reflect the
situation in vivo. I appreciate your feedback regarding this issue.
Thanks.
