We use RPMI + 10%FBS + 1% Pennicilin-Streptomycin + 1% Hepes buffer. All FNAs, Lymph nodes, solid tissue, and bone marrows are sent to us in this "transport" media. Peripheral bloods that must sit over the weekend are also stored in this media. You must wash off the RPMI before analysis. Our studies have shown the viability of the cells is greatly improved in this transport media over letting it sit in sodium heparin for the same length of time. This keeps us out of the lab on weekends. We would like to find a preservative to put in the blood, bone marrows and tissues that would allow us to cut back on the call-in times, from the out-lying labs. We have looked into Cyto-Chex. Is anything else available? Do any of you have suggestions that have worked well with you, and how do you handle it? Do you keep the preservative in you lab or send it to the other labs to add there? Until we are able to get more help, we hope to hang onto the sanity we have left, or not be called in, 2 times a weekend. Thanks for your help. > >Kathy and Lori >flow lab >St. Francis Medical Center >Peoria, IL >309-688-1536 > __________________________________________________________________ Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas.
