class I human cell lines

Good afternoon!

I have a question to pose to the general flow community. I have no
experience in sorting human cells. However, I now have an investigator who
would like to sort a human glioblastoma cell line, a class I biohazard, that
has not been screened for hepatitis B or HIV. I've reviewed the common
thread for sorting primary human primary cells and found that a number of
flow operators did not recommend sorting primary human cells, class I,
without some type of aerosol containment. According to the HHS publication,
Biosafety in microbiological and biomedical laboratories, class I cell lines
pose minimal potential hazard and no special containment equipment is
required.

So I thought I would just seek the advise from those who sort class I human
cell lines. Are there any precautions that I should entertain in protecting
myself and other labmates while sorting these cell on my MoFlo which is not
specially equipped for biohazardous specimens?

Thanks in advance!
