I found a very interesting paper about sorting of bacteria that I think
could be useful for both of your querys,
- Flow sorting of Microorganisms for Molecular Analysis. Günter Wallner & col.
Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Nov 1997, p. 4223-4231.-
They sort rRNA targeted oligonucleotide labeled probes from bacteria and
then amplify rDNA (but not RNA...) from the fixed and sorted cells by PCR...
