RE: Time delay before sorting

The best for this would be to ficoll the blood then store the mononuclear
cells at 4 degrees.
They should keep well for several days (stained or unstained).

whole blood that is going to be stored for more than 24 hrs should be
collected in ACD.
Let this set at room temp until needed, preferably with the tube on its
side.
Large amounts of blood can be transfered to a Life Cell bag and left at RT.

Subject: Time delay before sorting

Could anyone please tell me if there are any problems associated with a 2
day delay between blood collection and processing for T cell sorting.

I have a bone marrow transplant patient and we are sorting T cells for
further analysis (not culture).

Normally the blood is separated on a ficoll gradient then the cells stained
with a CD3 marker and sorted. Time restraints may mean that I cannot process
the blood immediately. If a delay is possible, what would be the best
conditions for storage of the whole blood or separated cells?

Thanks in anticipation,
