At this point, (nearly) anyone's experience with DiVa at this point is not only rumor, it is fabrication. As Dr. Preffer points out, the predecessor to DiVa (HiperFACS, or HyperFACS, or whatever) was a testbed platform that a few users out there had. This testbed convinced some of us that the digital electronics holds some real promise in terms of sensitivity, and, as Howard points out, the lack of inaccuracy resulting from analog logarithm conversions. At the VRC, we are scheduled to get the first DiVa outside of BD, and we are hoping to get it next week. There have been a few delays in getting it, but that's understandable given that this is an entirely new product (despite the HyperFACS testbed, which is substantially different except in concept). If everything goes smoothly (no smirking, please), then we should be fully 12-color, high-speed, 4-way sort-capable by mid March.... I'll be happy to pass on our experience with the DiVa, but not until we've actually run a sample or two on it... so ask again in a few weeks. mr
