Qualifications: M.S. in Physics and Teaching (1987, Russia), Ph.D. in Biophysics (1992, Russia). Scientific training and experience: two postdocs in Molecular and Cell Biology (1993-1998, University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Molecular Genetics). Research on regulation of epithelial cell differentiation. The identification and analysis of the novel mouse protein tyrosine kinase. Research in Molecular Oncology: mechanisms of Pgp mediated multidrug resistance, resistance to Vinca alkaloids of cells with wild type and mutant forms of Pgp. Fulfillment of training courses on BD FACSort (1994), BD FACSVantage (1996), BD FACSCalibur (1999) and Annual Course in Flow Cytometry (Los Alamos, June 1997). Some experience with fluorescence and confocal microscopy. Flow cytometric techniques: many and varied, especially cell surface proteins staining (Pgp, Fas receptor), DNA analysis, apoptotic assays (Annexin V, mitochondrial activity - JC1, DiOC6, DNA fragmentation), GFP fluorescence measurements, DNA content in bacterial and yeast populations, intracellular protein staining. Establishing, managing and supervision of Cell Biology and BCMP FC Facility at Harvard Medical School (two FACSCaliburs,1998-2000) and Molecular Oncology Cell Analysis Facility at University of Illinois at Chicago (BD FACSort, gamma-irradiator, 1994-1998); providing consultation and training (data acquisition, analysis and basic computer skills); assisting in experiment design and implementation; providing reliable advice with respect to flow cytometry and biological aspects, adapting flow cytometry and staining protocols for new applications.
