Doug, Now that we do all our archiving locally on CD-ROM, price isn't really an objection so everything does indeed get backed up in duplicate. One copy is kept in the Flow Lab for access to the Users (they are not allowed to remove the CDs from the lab) and the other copy is stored remotely at a secret location (but those of us in the know believe it to be Tracy Island). Users are free of course to make their own copies of the data and store that as they feel fit. Although I have had CDs that fail to write we have not yet had any read failures. I wonder though how long it will before larger capacity CDs are commonplace and we will be changing the archiving system yet again? A terabyte of data on a disc? See www.c-3d.net Derek > When backing up flow data onto CD-ROMs, do you all make 2 copies, and > how important is it to make 2 copies vs. simply making 1 copy.
