Dear Sharon,

My two cents worth:

CD20 expression in mantle cell lymphoma is usually strong.
Your case shows more characteristics of CLL/SLL with the weak CD22, weak
surface immunoglobulin and weak CD20 staining. In our laboratory we would
interprete your phenotype as CLL/SLL but would look at this, in conjunction
with the morphology. Cyclin D1 testing, if you have access to it would be
useful.

We have had cases of CD23 negative CLL that did go on to exhibit the
clinical course of CLL and not the more aggressive course of mantle cell
lymphoma. Like you, they ended up being cases which generated interested
discussion by the Clinicians.

Regards,

Michelle
