Dear Dr. Gaudry, hi Flowers,
islands of Langerhans (from rats) were sorted with a purity of 90% on a
Partec PAS flow cytometer (http://www.partec.de) equipped with the large
particle version of the closed piezo sorter. [D.W.R.Gray et al.: Separation
of Pancreatic Islets by Fluorescence-Activated Sorting, DIABETES, Vol. 36,
Suppl. 1, (1989)]. The islands were stained by neutral red, analyzed and
sorted by fluorescence only, and stayed viable and functioning after sorting
and tranplantation beneath the kidney capsule of rats.
With best regards
Wolfgang Göhde jun., Partec GmbH

Betreff: Islets of Langerhans

Hi,
Would anyone have a procedure for flow sorting of the islets of Langerhans?
I have been told that they are difficult to detect on forward and side
scatter because there is a lot of other tissue bits about the same size. Is
there some antibody that can be used to label the islets?
Thank you,
Leonie
