Annexin V question

Hi everyone out in Flowland,
I have a problem I hope someone can help me with.
I have an investigator who is looking at apoptosis in cultured human
myoblasts with myotonic dystrophy using Annexin-V/PI. The problem I am
having is that in the Annexin V-FITC only sample, I get a signal in the PI
range. I've tried to compensate, but even at 100% I still have some
signal. Looking at the cells under a scope show some faint red staining
within the cell. The first time I ran there cells I had this problem and I
thought that it might have been cross contamination (the kit they are using
is a shared one), however, they bought a new kit and the problem
persists. The investigators add human epidermal growth factor to their
media. Could this be a cause of the PI signal?
Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks!
Andy
