Many printers will allow you to save a document as PostScript format - nearly all laser printers will allow this and an increasing number of inkjets. If you have the right printer driver installed you should be able to do the following: from within CellQuest go to 'Print' - instead of Destination:Printer, change this to Destination:File - this will allow you to save the document as a PostScript file (there may well be an option to change the 'Save to File' preferences within the Print menu- play about with these till you find the right ones for you - I normally save as an EPS file). Once in PS format, all Adobe programs, and many others (Freehand is another good one), will open the files - as you point out programs like Illustrator are very good as they allow re-sizing, removing of axis labels and adding of text - I generally avoid things like PhotoShop which are, after all, designed to be bitmap editors. A good rule of thumb though is to get the figure to as close as possible to the final illustration as possible before leaving CellQuest. Have fun!!
