Mature segmented granulocytes are generally all positive for CD16 (neutrophils only, that is, eosinophils are negative), and a few of the bands may be positive too, and all promyelocytes are negative. Though since myelocytes and metamyelocytes and many bands are also negative, they wouldn't be discriminated from promyelocytes by this antigen. Promyelocytes also express CD38 quite strongly and have the highest forward scatter and not quite so high orthogonal scatter, but this is a continuum. Hope this may help. Deborah B.
