Len,
What I don't understand is why BD will support your upgrading your MAC
OS on one cytometer computer in your lab and not another. It would seem that
if you are using the same version of Cellquest on both computers, they
should be able to run with the same operating system.
In my opinion MAC OS 7.6.1 does not run as well as OS 8.6, and has a
tendency to crash more often. I have read that OS 7.6.1 has RAM allocation
problems that result in lockups.
Recently, I recommended to one of our customers that they upgrade from
OS 7.6.1 to OS 8.X in order to fix lockup and monitor problems. After the
upgrade she reports problems are gone and connecting to her in-house network
was a breeze.
I would ask BD what the specific issues are with using OS 8.6 and
Cellquest 3.1 on your Vantage. I don't believe it is a MAC issue. If BD is
not going to support Cellquest 3.1 with an enhanced MAC OS, then they should
supply you with the version of Cellquest that does. I would like to here
what responses you receive.
Best Regards,
Ray Lannigan
