After a long battle with cancer, Dr. Janis Giorgi passed away peacefully this morning (May 30). Those of you who knew Janis will remember her as a vibrant, charming, and enthusiastic scientist and friend who was well-liked by all who met her. Janis made many significant contributions to the fields of HIV immunopathogensis as well as Flow Cytometry, and when she was healthy, was a constant contributor with meeting presentations, publications, and, most recently, as member of NIAID Council. Janis will be greatly missed. A memorial service as well as a memorial fund is being planned by her colleagues at UCLA; for more information, please contact Faith Haaz by EMail (fhaaz@mednet.ucla.edu). mr
