Dear All,

Recently I saw that someone had asked about how to 'rescue' a valuable but
infected cell line. Well, dummy me, I knew I should have saved the 'rescue'
protocol for a just in case. And now, a colleague of mine (no, really, it's
not me) has such a problem. Below is his comments on what he has done so
far. Would the kind person who responded before please send me that
'rescue' protocol and if anyone has a recommendation for my 'colleague' I
would be grateful.

We are using the mouse pro-B cell line, 300.19, transfected with human
ICAM-1. A
clone A2 of these cells was utilized for adhesion studies. Cells were
getting
severely infected with somthing after 3-4 days of culture. Organisms were
particulate, round to oblong in shape. They are as small or may be slightly
bigger than bacteria. My cell culture contained Cipro 10microgram/ml and 1%
pen-strep. It is not mycoplasma, since it can grow independent of cell. We
have send it to microbiological lab and it is negative for bacteria. Used
Nystatin, still could not rescue them. Any suggestion?
