In 1982 Dr. H. Gratzner published a landmark paper on the detection of BrdU in DNA by Flow using a mAb he made called B44. This is in fact the clone that is sold by BD for $420 for 100 tests (about 50ug) or over $8,000 per mg. This work was done at a public university (Univ. of Miami) and funded by the NCI. Therefore, 18 years later this clone should be available and in the public domain. My question: does anybody have this cell line or know where or how it can be obtained for research work? I would be interested in any clues or if anyone knew any of Dr. Gratzner's colleagues (Dr. G. has since passed away).
