Date: Wed May 17 2000 - 13:26:51 EST

The 13th Annual Course in Clinical Applications of Flow Cytometry
and Image Analysis is being held at Northwestern University Medical School,
Chicago, IL from August 4-11, 2000. The course is being taught in two
sessions, both of which are briefly described below. Please e-mail, fax or
call for further information on either, or both, sessions.

The course offers an intensive, and stimulating, interactive
enviroment in which to learn both basic and advanced clinical cytometry
techniques. In addition, it is always fun with ample opportunity for
interaction amongst the participants and the faculty. You can save money and
double your learning experience by taking both sessions of the course.
Course registrations are filling up, although at this time space is still
available. We hope to see you in Chicago this summer.

13th ANNUAL COURSE IN CLINICAL APPLICATIONS OF
                        FLOW CYTOMETRY AND IMAGE ANALYSIS

A comprehensive course covering the major current clinical applications of
flow cytometry and image analysis taught in two consecutive sessions.

Session 1 — Concentrating on data analysis, interpretation and
clinicopathologic correlation with intensive review of the most common
clinical applications of flow cytometry. This session is targeted at the
pathologist, laboratory director and supervisor. Data analysis and
interpretation will be covered in small classes grouped according to
experience using lectures and hands-on manipulation of actual patient data.
Topics include diagnosis of acute leukemia and lymphoproliferative
disorders, minimal residual disease detection, stem cell enumeration,
monitoring of immune recovery following bone marrow transplantation,
platelet testing, cross-matching for transplant, molecular markers of
neoplasia, apoptosis, DNA cell cycle evaluation of solid tumors.

Tuition: $600 ($525 if taken in combination with Session 2)

Includes:	Registration
		A comprehensive course syllabus
		Luncheons

		Northwestern University Medical School
		Chicago, IL

Deadline for registration is June 21, 2000. Registration is on a first come,
first serve basis with a maximum of 42 students.

		August 4 — 6, 2000
		Northwestern University Medical School
		Chicago, IL

For further information on Session 1, contact: Clinical Cytometry Society,
Telephone-(719)835-2025, Fax-(719)836-2122, e-mail clee@chaffee.net or Dr.
Maryalice Stetler-Stevenson, Director Of Flow Cytometry Unit, Laboratory of
Pathology, NCI, NIH 20892.

Session 2 — Concentrating on the basics of flow cytometry and image analysis
in the clinical laboratory. Emphasis is placed on the technical aspects of
the methodology and data analysis including clinicopathologic correlation to
stress the role of cytometry as part of an integrated diagnostic approach.
This session is targeted at the laboratory technologist, supervisor and
director as well as pathologists. Participants will take a hands-on, active
role in sample preparation, data analysis, discussion of results and
assessment of problems/limitations of the technology. The course consists of
lectures (~10 hrs), hands-on core laboratories (~ 20 hrs), and discussion
groups (~6 hrs) covering basic and advanced topics in clinical cytometry
including immunodeficiency, acute leukemias, lymphoprolifrerative disorders,
minimum residual disease detection, apoptosis, DNA/cell cycle, stem cells,
platelet analyses. Week-long project labs (~ 12 hrs) offer intensive
investigation in one area. Topics will include advanced immunophenotypic
analyses and functional analyses.

Tuition: $850 ($775 if taken in combination with Session 1)

Includes:	Registration
		Luncheons, receptions, banquet
		Comprehensive course manual

Deadline for registration is June 21, 2000. Registration is on a first come,
