Flow Cytometry position in the Pacific Northwest--kayak to work.

There is an immediate opening for an entry level flow cytometer operator in the
Cell Analysis Facility of the University of Washington School of Medicine in
Seattle. A bachelor's degree in the physical or life sciences is required as is
one year relevant experience. General biochemistry laboratory skills, as well as
mechanical skills, and superior written and verbal skills are required. Problem
solving abilities are very important. Desirable are experience with optics,
lasers, electronics, and computers (Mac, Windows, UNIX). Applicants must be
willing to work flexible hours including an 11AM to 8PM day.

There is ever increasing use of the facility that is undergoing further
expansion this spring. Currently, facility instrumentation includes a
FACSVantage SE 3 laser beam, 10 detector sorter; a 3 laser, 8 detector LSR
benchtop analyzer; 2 FACScans, as well as a BioRad 1024 scanning confocal
microscope equipped for 3 color and transmitted light imaging. A second
high-speed sorter will be added by summer of this year. For more details, see

Multi-color analysis and sorting are routine, and wider variety of applications
are being developed as the number of users increases.
